The preaching of Isaiah of Jerusalem over some 40 years has been brilliantly and marvellously edited into a unified collection bearing his name. Its theme is the sin, suffering and salvation of God's people against the backdrop of their enemies Assyria and later Babylon. The book looks beyond Isaiah's own day to a time of exile and later return. A key figure in the redemption of God's people is a coming King, Servant and Conqueror - a beautiful statement of the gospel of Jesus Christ seen ahead of time by Isaiah of Jerusalem. Our God is the God of history. Idols are nothing. God alone predicts and directs the affairs of nations. He is the one true God.
Part one provides an introduction and overview of the book.
Please note that, exceptionally, some of these Slices take three sides. This is because Michael Eaton has incorporated his own translation of the Hebrew text.
